Welcome to the summer of building a new foundation for health!
Each week, I'll send you a lesson to spark fresh ideas and reflections as you build your own version of health. These lessons are intentionally crafted to reduce the noise and confusion often found in the health space.
The goal:
To help you stop outsourcing your health and start creating it. This also means taking control of what's within your power and releasing what isn't.
It starts right here with lesson one: The “Way” You Approach Health
Lesson One: Focusing on "The Way" You Approach Health
We often focus on "how" something happens—a diet plan, a fitness trend, or someone else's formula for success. This leads us to outsource our health and chase solutions that don't align with our realities.
It's important to understand the difference between what is in your control and what isn't. Here's the truth:
Out of your control: How your body responds or changes.
In your control: The way you take action.
Focusing on ‘how to do something’ often leads you to outsource to someone else's way. It leaves you outsourcing your health to the next plan, which promises to show you "how" to lose weight. "How" to (fill in the blank).
Unfortunately, it doesn't work because someone else's how does not represent how your body will show up and respond.
And health is always about how your body shows up (this is what determines your outcomes).
When you stop outsourcing your health (and standards), you can begin designing your own way. It allows you space to create and experiment within yourself to find the way that works for you.
And if you put the pieces back together and bring it full circle, your way influences and alters the outcomes you experience. It creates the change you've been looking for.

If you’d rather listen and walk than watch, here is an audio-only version of the video:
The big idea:
Health takes work, but the way you work—whether it’s aligned with you or borrowed from someone else—changes how it works.
When it’s your way, it feels natural and empowering.
When it’s someone else’s way, it often feels like a chore, burdened with guilt or shame when it doesn’t work.
Reflection questions:
Take some time to think about these:
Where are you outsourcing your health?
What are you outsourcing it to?
Why did you join the Walking Club?
What outcomes are you looking for?

FAQ: A few troubleshooting tips to get started:
I can’t get logged in to the step tracker.
Visit steps.thelivingwell.com and click the login button. Enter the email address you used when you purchased access to the Walking Club. When you reach the password screen, click on “Forgot Password.” This will allow you to reset your password and get access.
How do I track my step goal?
Visit steps.thelivingwell.com, and once logged in, click on your account settings page. You will see a box under your email address and password to enter your step goal. This goal must be for the entire 92-day challenge, so if your goal is 8,000 steps/day, you would enter 736,000 and hit Update. This will show up on your “My Progress” page.
My steps aren’t showing up.
Unfortunately, our system can’t work as fast as you walk. :) It can take up to 5 minutes for your steps to show up on the leaderboard and in your progress charts. If it’s been over 24 hours and it is not showing up, just send us an email at support@thelivingwell.com, and we’ll take a look.
I entered the wrong steps, or I entered them on the wrong day, or I entered them twice.
If you send us a message at support@thelivingwell.com with the details of the error, we’ll fix it for you!
Do you have any other questions or issues that come up? Email us at support@thelivingwell.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
