Do you have the September itch?
Science shows your body is primed for change right now! Don’t miss the opportunity! Scratch that itch.
September always feels like an about-face. I’m not mad about it. I genuinely love September. It’s arguably in my top three favorite months of the year.
If it weren’t for the New Year reset in January, I’m convinced this would be the month we’d all be setting new resolutions and goals.
If you’re feeling the nudge for change, that’s because September is actually one of the best seasons for change (April is up there, too). In fact, it might even be more conducive to meaningful shifts than January.
I promise, this isn’t just motivational fluff. There’s science behind it.
Science proves September is one of the best months for change.
Biologically, your cells and rhythms of your body (including your circadian rhythm) are deeply influenced by seasonal shifts, making fall a great opportunity to refresh rhythms and make shifts to nourish yourself.
Psychologically, September carries what is known as the “fresh start effect.” It’s that post-summer, back-to-school energy.
In addition to the natural, seasonal changes your body is craving, it’s also a great month for change because most people are well-charged after summer.
NOTES ON CHANGE: The charge of your body battery, or the support and resources your body has available, directly determines whether change is viable and sustainable. Without enough resources, no change will stick.
I call this the September itch.
The craving for something different. The craving for a change.
If you’re feeling the itch, lean into it.
Want to try a new exercise routine? Take action on that hint.
Want to double down on the food you consume? DO IT!
If you want science-backed shifts to make for fall, check out my upcoming Fall Refresh.
The Fall Refresh:
The Fall Refresh is 5 days of hands-on experimentation using my fall toolkit. It works to recalibrate your rhythms, boost your immunity, and thrive this fall. No rigid plans, just practical, real-life strategies.
It kicks off September 22nd (on the first day of fall).
In the meantime, if you want a few pointers to get you started, *here are five health changes to make this month.*
I’d love to know, though, do you feel like you’re more prone to desire change in September or January?
Use this as motivation:
How you “September” generally determines how you end the year. If you don’t “September well,” meaning you ignore your craving for change, you’re likely to end up like most people: Wanting change but waiting until January.
BUT, if you September well and you keep your body battery charged, you’ll be more likely to finish the year strong, building momentum and establishing healthy patterns long before you even begin thinking about resolutions.
Don’t wait until January to chase change. Use the natural pull of September as your friend.
All month long, we’ll be diving into how to “September well.” Creating change from a charged body battery, not a drained one.
This month, lean into what your body, mind, and soul are asking for, knowing how September shapes the rest of your year.
Let’s make it count!
