The Friday check-in is Monday's little sister—off-the-cuff updates I'd bring up over a coffee catch-up with a friend. Because we're friends and we're doing this together.
I am trying to decipher whether I planned this Nourish30 Challenge well or my vacation poorly. I can tell you that in the middle of January when it's so cold that the snow turns to ice chunks and no amount of clothing can stop the wind gusts that seem to chill my bones, there was no wrong time to hit the beaches of Florida.
I can't say I was wrong. I'm the odd duck that loves to walk outside and get hit by the wave of hot humidity. It feels like a giant warm hug, and I'm here for it.
But I wasn't planning on starting week one of the challenge while also on vacation. Although vacation and health goals seem like polar opposites, I'm devoted to sticking with them. It was the entire point of the challenge, to begin with.
You should be able to complete this anywhere! Nothing should hold you back from taking action for your health.
And I'm living it (with a dose of daily ice cream in the mix).
I've still met my move goal, thanks to the walk to the white sandy beaches and ice cream shops. I'm talking kindly about myself, even though I've always been a little self-conscious in a swimsuit. I'm reading more than a chapter a day, playing board games, and building sand castles, not to mention I'm on a week-long sabbath.
It's been relatively easy, except for the protein goal.
Meeting my daily protein quota has thrown me for a loop the most. Ice cream just doesn't have as much as you would think. ;) But I've reverted to my easiest protein snack options, which include being more mindful of what I eat for breakfast and pack for the beach.
I'm sharing all of that in a minute, but first, can we talk about swimsuits?
