Day 01: The Myth of Time
Day one of the Three-Day Health Reset! Learn the myth of time and how to use time to get more steps!
It’s Official! The 3-Day Summer Reset Walking Challenge Has Begun!
Today is your prep day for the three days ahead. While you’re not technically tracking your steps today, I’m not saying you shouldn’t sneak a few in—let’s call it a “warm-up.”
I’m here to make sure you’ve got everything you need to get started on the right foot!

Tomorrow’s goal: 8,000 steps.
Getting to 8,000 steps might sound overwhelming, but remember: consistency beats perfection.
Here are some creative ways to rack up those steps:
Set an hourly alarm to get 300 steps.
Park farther away at the store or work.
Walk in place while watching TV or making calls.
My personal favorite? Vacuum! It’s a win-win for steps and a cleaner house.
Getting to 8,000 steps CAN be done without a set time to walk. You can make it happen just by living your life—if you’re consistently moving.
If you have a desk job, I know it’s a bit trickier. If 5:00 pm rolls around and you’ve only hit 3,000 steps, that’s your cue that maybe tomorrow’s schedule needs a short walk built in.
Don’t shame yourself for it, but use it as an observation to make necessary changes.
No shame, just tweaks.
The key to health is working with your life, not against it.
Stop expecting to fit yourself into someone else’s plan or program.
Don’t expect to have someone else’s way work for you. Your life is yours—desk job or not. Instead of trying to override your current situation, honor it, learn from it, and build habits that fit it.
That means you need to STOP trying to make your life look like someone else’s.
But to be effective at this, you have to stop believing that it’s impossible to create health in the life you live. It might be partially true, but what is most true is that you still have agency over how your life is lived. That brings me to lesson number one: The Myth of Time.
Lesson #1: The Myth of Time
How many times have you said,
“I don’t have time to walk.”
“I don’t have time to eat well.”
“I barely have time to breathe.”
One of the most common myths used to justify not engaging with health is the myth of time. But the reality is, time isn’t the issue. The issue is how you choose to fill it.
How you fill time changes how you experience it.
When you say, “I don’t have time,” what you really mean is, “I don’t value that activity right now.”
I’m not judging you—there are plenty of valid reasons why we wouldn’t value health practices. I’ve skipped a walk to binge Netflix, too. But here’s the kicker: Understanding time changes what you value filling it with.
Those health habits you think are “time-suckers”? They’re actually time expanders.
Walking, sleeping, eating well—they don’t just fill your day. They make your day better. They help you enjoy more of your time instead of just surviving it.
Over the next three days, I guarantee this thought will pop up: "I don’t have time today."
When it does, ask yourself:
What am I prioritizing over this?
What am I valuing more than my health?
Reflection Prompts:
How many steps did you get today?
What can you do tomorrow to prioritize movement?
What are you filling your life with? Is it expanding your time or draining it?
Bonus Challenge:
📸 Snap a pic of something you loved on your walk today (or take a selfie while moving!). Post it in the comments or on social media with #SummerWalkingClub for a chance to win a weighted walking vest.
Let’s do this! You’ve got the steps, the plan, and the time. Now go make it happen! 💪
The Iowa weather has it raining before school and after school today, but I set a goal to get some extra steps in by going the long way to different classrooms today. (Also not able to add a photo.) #summerwalkingclub
I can’t add a photo either, but took a walk after sitting at my desk all day for a little afternoon energy boost!
