Before You Set Another Resolution, Read This!
Before you commit to another resolution, ask yourself this…
I told you it was going to happen…
That December 26th itch to start thinking ahead to the new year.
Over the last couple of days, I’ve found myself deep in reflection and planning mode, reassessing what has gone well, what hasn’t, and where I want to go and grow next.
If I’m honest, this last year was one of the biggest growth years I’ve ever experienced. It truly knocked my socks off in the best possible way.
When I reflected on what made this year different from nearly every other year of my adult life, one thing stood out clearly: I started to honor my way instead of living based on what I thought it should look like or what I’d been told it should be.
I know that putting “my” in front of anything can sound selfish, which is exactly why I’ve never attempted this process before. But honestly, I’ve found it to be the exact opposite.
Following my own way wasn’t about making everything about me; it was about understanding my uniqueness and values in a way that allowed me to give to the world and to everyone around me. It allowed me to grow spiritually, relationally, and deeply in ways I could not have imagined.
The alternative is following someone else’s way. Buying into their plans, their rules, their “how-to,” and becoming a puppet to the world. I spent most of my adult life there, constantly trying to uncover the thing that would finally “work.”
But there isn’t much life there. And if growth happens at all, it often feels forced, exhausting, and hollow. It’s rarely the answer we think it’s going to be.
I keep coming back to this truth: God purposed you with your own uniqueness. And now more than ever (especially in the age of AI), we need that. Your uniqueness is what separates you. It’s what separates us.
This year showed me how little care I’d actually given to honoring my uniqueness and how that neglect created a story of always “needing change.” Always searching and attaching myself to someone else’s way.
It’s the infamous I’m broken, sell me a fix cycle.
A cycle that trains us to look everywhere except inward.
This year, I really want to help you honor your uniqueness and your body’s wisdom (spoiler: it’s all connected). And that’s not going to come from stereotypical health programming. It’s going to come from a different approach, one that helps you uncover your way.
I’m really excited for what we have ahead in 2026. But for now, I want to invite you to think about planning (and health) differently.
To get curious about your uniqueness. And to honor the fact that your way may not look like anyone else’s.
A new way to look ahead…
For example, maybe you’ve set a resolution in the past to become a runner and run a 5K. Maybe it worked. Maybe it didn’t. The idea is to get curious.
Instead of asking, How do I make this work? You might need to get real and ask: Do I even desire to run? Or do I think I need to do this to become who I think I should be?
If you have zero desire to run…
If running always feels like a fight…
If you hate it…
That’s okay. Running may not be your way.
The good news is, it doesn’t have to be your way. There are literally endless options to create your desired outcomes. BUT, the only way is to discover the way that actually fits you.
You don’t need to force yourself into a box next year. You have options. And choosing the best one starts with understanding your desires. What lights you up? What pulls you forward?
That doesn’t mean it won’t challenge you — it should. But a healthy challenge only works if you’re willing to begin. If there’s no desire to start, it’s likely not the right way for you.
When you release the belief that something has to happen one specific way, you create space to explore others.
Maybe instead of running, you try a boxing class. Or maybe a weighted walking vest lights you up. Or maybe it’s something entirely different that’s waiting on the other side of letting go of what hasn’t worked.
The key is letting go and opening up to something different.
The same goes for weight loss.
Maybe you’ve set a resolution to lose 30 pounds…for the last ten years. You feel as if you’ve tried everything, and yet nothing has worked. Now, as we enter 2026, the number feels even bigger, and the frustration feels heavier.
First, take a breath because I need you to hear me say this…
Your body is not the problem.
You are not the problem.
You are capable. The issue isn’t you. It’s the systems you’ve tried to attach yourself to that were never your way.
Release the way, and re-evaluate. Do I truly desire this? If not, choose something else. If so, then release the old ways and open up to the possibility of a new way.
This is what I mean when I say it’s not about attaching yourself to another program. It’s about creating a framework that supports your way of living, moving, and caring for your body.
And honestly? This can be really fun.
We’re going to spend a lot of time here this year, helping you find your way while also amplifying your health.
I want to help you write a new story. A freedom story. One that honors your God-given uniqueness — the very thing the world needs more of.
So as you begin evaluating your desires for the year ahead, regardless of whether you call them resolutions or outcomes, pause and ask yourself:
Do I actually desire this, or do I think I should?
Is there something I want more?
Was this my way or someone else’s?
No judgment. Just curiosity.
Inside the Nourished Planner, there’s intentional space to process all of this —clarifying desires, setting outcomes, and building a rhythm that supports your life.
If you haven’t purchased your planner yet, I highly recommend you do. Orders placed today or tomorrow will arrive before the end of the week, and every planner purchase includes free entry into the upcoming 14 Day Nourished Planning Challenge beginning January 12th.
Use code NEWYEAR for 26% off your entire purchase.
This is where your story starts to change. It’s going to be a change this year, but in the best possible ways.
I’d love to know, when it comes to your health, what’s one thing you’re curious to do differently this year? Drop it in the comments below!
Are you ready for what’s ahead? Buckle up, friends! It’s going to be a fun ride!
