We need to talk about judgment, without judgment.
I promise it can be done, but it takes a bit of opening up. An openness to see how your judgment about judgment might be keeping you stuck in an old loop.
When you’re too quick to judge, even the conversation about judgment, you limit yourself from seeing the fuller picture.
Take the common unhealthy judgments about one’s health.
I’ll never be healthy.
I’m so fat.
I’m too lazy to be disciplined.
Health is so confusing.
I failed because I didn’t meet my step goal.
While these might feel true in the moment, what’s even more true is that they are judgments based on partial facts. And where have these thoughts gotten you? For most people, these judgments only keep them stuck right where they are.
That’s why maybe the best thing you can do for yourself is to stop judging, at least for now. Stop judging until you understand the high side of judgment, and how to use it for growth.
Try to stop judging:
How much time will you have available when school goes back in session.
Your thoughts on the best time to work out.
The diet your friend just started.
Food.
How you perceive your body looks.
