I hate dieting, but I also believe we should all work to eat healthy.

I love the body positivity movement but believe we also need to exist at a healthy weight.

I don't think weight is a good indicator of health, but I also think weight matters to your health.

I don't think it's healthy to focus on weight as a problem, but I also understand that weight can be a problem.

It all feels slightly contradictory. Yet, it can also all feel true.

Somewhere in the middle lies a sweet spot for nourishing your body while working to make it the best—taking care of your body without obsessing about it.

The problem is not choosing which hill you'll die on. That's the easy part—picking a side. The hardest thing is understanding that both can be true and finding a balance of nourishing yourself without guilt, shame, obsession, overwhelm, or full-on stopping your life waiting until you arrive to start living.

But there is a path that allows you to want to lose weight and still be healthy without feeling guilty about where you are or obsessing about where you're not.

There is a place where you can love yourself right where you are but still want to get healthier.

But I've realized that place is hard to articulate - how to be happy where you are and happy you want to change.

But today, I'm going to try using my own journey with weight to hopefully help you see the perspective I'm approaching this from and perhaps encourage you to shift your own perspective—not necessarily change what you're doing but change the approach.

This might be the most vulnerable post I've ever done.
