The Positive Side To Dysregulation
I love watching my kids do the things they love. I also love watching them be challenged and overcome the challenge.
I will say it, I mostly love youth sports.
Yet, sporting events are one of the most deregulating environments for me.
Bright LED lights. Yelling. Overcrowded spaces. Competition. Bad memories. Terrible seating (and thus posture). Heightened emotions.
It does something in me… and, arguably, in most people that pulls me out of balance.
If you’ve spent any time in a gym, you know that a good majority of the parents there are generally dysregulated. It tends to present humans in some of their least finest moments, myself included.
Which got me thinking of this exact topic. It’s these moments that showcase the power of wellness and what it’s really for.
It’s not to achieve a state of perfection, because that will never exist this side of eternity. It’s to help you regain balance when life pulls you out. And life will always pull you out.
If it’s not a gym or a youth sporting event, it will be something else.
Don’t fear it, just recognize it and know these are the moments you’re building wellness for. You have the tools you need to help you regain balance.
