Seven Things To Establish Before You Worry About Weight Loss
These are the seven foundations or pillars of health. They are required to create health, weight loss, or any other health strategy you want to implement.

All healing happens in the same way (and it's not through biohacking).
Healing happens only when and if you have the resources, energy, and tools your body needs to heal. This is the foundation; without this foundation, you can't really establish health.
Before health, you must create the foundation to build it.
This concept makes sense as to why things like your supplement protocol could make you worse or why talk therapy only gets you so far before you "max" out.
It's not to say all biohacking is "unhealthy," but it can be, and I feel like we need to understand this without blindly falling for the endless health tactics because they might not all work for you (and they might not be needed).
Without a healthy foundation, your biohacking tools, supplements, and weight loss attempts may overwhelm your body more than they help. This can ultimately leave you more unhealthy, opening the door to the famous assumption that "you're the problem."
Let's clear the air and set the record straight today.
Your body is not the problem. It's the solution.
Your body does the healing (NOT YOU). But you do play a role; you have a job, and that job is to support your body so that it can heal. Your job is to create the foundation to build health.
That foundation comes back to the three essentials required for health:
Safety
Energy
Time
Of course, each is perceived differently. For instance, a woman's sense of safety tends to be more personal and influenced by individual experiences, perceptions of risk, and environmental factors. Men tend to perceive safety as collective rather than personal.
Similarly, there are some differences in how we find and generate energy.
But it's safety and energy together that influence your health more than anything else because energy determines the structure of your body (what your physical mass is made up of), and that structure determines cellular function.
The foundational equation you must understand is this:
Safety → Energy → Structure → Function
Dr. Ray Peat mentioned this concept throughout his work, which originated from the work of Dr. Gilbert Ling. This idea states that how a cell responds to any hormone or neurotransmitter is not always the same but depends on its energetic and structural state and cell history.
It's similar to how you might respond to an invitation to go out when you're tired rather than when you're full of energy. Your response and actions will change.
Your body responds similarly. Just like you can't be easily forced to do things (which is why you don't always do what you know you should), neither can your cells because it's not always a product of want. Your cell response is a product of what resources and how much energy is available that changes the structure and function.
All of the health comes back to this equation: safety determines energy, energy dictates structure, and structure changes function.
That's why losing weight without any regard for where that weight is coming from is incredibly damaging to the body. It's also why weight loss is a terrible indicator of health.
Weight loss without understanding how to protect healthy tissues leaves people more unhealthy.
