If the inner workings of my brain were on display, you'd see a finely tuned juggling act. Every day feels like a puzzle of schedules, grocery lists, appointments (even for the dog), budgets, and endless to-dos.
Honestly, just recounting it all makes me sweat.
Planning is not easy work. It can be exhausting to try to make sense of life in a way that works for everyone.
I have to admit I’m often a product of planning life but not planning to live well. I’ve even worn this as a badge of honor, convincing myself that a packed schedule equals accomplishment. But deep down, I’ve often wondered if this way of living (or not living) is why I struggle to achieve what I want.
I don’t know if I’m making sense.
What I’m trying to say is that we tend to justify our current reality, using our schedules to make us feel better about existing in a life we don’t really love.
We use our schedules as masks, convincing ourselves we’re doing “enough” or that we’re “productive,” while avoiding the bigger question: Do I love the life I’m creating?
I must admit, my husband does this better.
He’s mastered the art of planning without losing himself in it.
My inner bitterness hates that statement, under the assumption that he doesn’t have to plan for as much as I do. But even that thought, while potentially true, still discounts his process of planning.
The reality is that his plans don’t disrupt his life. They support it. He shows up, lives in the moment, and somehow avoids the stress of what’s next. And it all goes off without a hitch.
Is it a “man thing”? Maybe. But I think it’s more than that. It’s about intention. He really knows how to show up and live.
Not just to plan but planning to live.
I think we could all be more like that. If we want to fully experience life, we have to.
That means creating a schedule that prioritizes joy, space, and health—not just packing it with things we think we need to do. It’s about making room for the life you truly want to live. It’s about making room for health.
Here’s the truth: if you don’t plan to live, your plans will overtake your life.
This idea is the heart and soul of the Nourished Planner.
