Are You Resting Too Much? (Workshop Link)
Movement is how you heal! Learn how inside. Plus, get the link to the upcoming workshop!
A few weeks ago, I told you my body was bored.
This stirred up a lot of thoughts in you and me. One area I feel compelled to share is the concept of rest.
We may have broken up with hustle culture and are currently living in our rest era, but I wonder, are you resting too much?
Generally speaking, we rest because we're stressed.
But stress wasn't meant to rest.
It was made to move, so resting when you're stressed doesn't help you de-stress, even if it temporarily feels like it.
Let me put it this way.
Rest is too complex for our modern-day nervous systems.
Forcing rest when your body needs to move stress is similar to shoving stress, which adds to your stress, not alleviates it.
Not because rest is bad but because you were first designed to move.
And some of the most restful ways of living involve activation, not deactivation. They involve moving energy, not sitting in it.
Of course, there is always a balance to this, but I need you to know that you were made to move, go, and do.
That doesn't mean we re-enter hustle culture, but it does mean we start to see rest with a new lens. We understand it's less about scrolling social media and binge-watching Netflix and more about the nourishing activities you engage with every day.
The goal has to be balanced, and balance happens when you understand what is out of balance so you can TAKE ACTION to create it.
Too much rest is just as harmful as not enough because it's not about how much or how little. It's always about balance.
Movement is one of the best ways to heal and one of the great balancers of our body, mind, and soul.
Instead of more rest, it's time to move. It's time for a challenge!
Movement is how you heal.
Tomorrow kicks off the Nouish30 Challenge with the LIVE Revive and Thrive Workshop, where I'll teach you the one mode of healing, weight loss, and nervous system regulation.
I share the difference between real rest (healing rest) versus artificial rest (rest that adds stress) and how to push your body to create healthy changes.
