7 Day Complaint Cleanse 🤯 (Are You In?)

I have a genetic predisposition for grumbling.
I'm not trying to use it as an excuse but as an awareness.
We all have a genetic disposition for whether we are pessimists or optimists. Your disposition is in your genetics, developed out of the stories your ancestors lived and, if not understood, will become your story.
I find this work equally fascinating and terrifying.Â
It's fascinating in that there is a true generational legacy we're all passing on. What we heal or don't heal will impact the future generations of your family.
It's terrifying because we're all a little too much like our parents. And if we fail to see it, we'll often repeat the same patterns we claimed we never would.
But you don't have to!
One of my all-time favorite gifts God created in us is the ability to be transformed.Â
Your mind is elastic, pliable, and changeable.
So are your beliefs and even your cells.
Everything is constantly regenerating, growing, evolving, and changing.
Nothing is forever.Â
Praise Jesus, those patterns you hate and the outcomes you desperately want to change CAN CHANGE.
But it's not a cakewalk.
This is where we often get tripped up in the health space. We want the magic bullet, the pill, or the five-step plan guaranteed to make change, but that's not how change works.
Change happens through repatterning. It happens by shifting your focus and thus energy away from what is unhealthy to healthy things.
Did you know you repeat over 80% of your actions and thoughts from the day before? Most of what you do is a form of "going through the motions."
This is even more pronounced for people stuck in survival mode.
You don't always think. You just do and then live frustrated that you keep doing what you don't want to do.
It's because good intentions alone will never change you.
Change takes repatterning the program, and that requires both work and consistency.
But it becomes a lot easier when you realize that most of what you want to change stems from the same place - your attitude.
I don't want to get too scientific in this post, but let me put it this way.
Your pattern is creating your physiology.
A negative mind pattern creates a negative physiological response, leading to negative biological outcomes.
If you want to get healthy, you MUST CHANGE YOUR PATTERNS.

I know I just said a magic formula wouldn't help you, but that's only because we can't change the outcomes without influencing the root cause.
For most of us in health and life, the root cause is complaining. But complaining comes in many forms:
Grumbling
Bitterness
Victimhood
Envy
Complacency
These are all birthed out of the same pattern.
The pattern of self-protection that leads to isolation and competition in your life and even your biology.
Let's get a refresher on the hormonal hierarchy.Â
Your attitude influences your master hormones like oxytocin and cortisol more than anything else. These then dictate the flow of all other hormones.
That means your libido problem could be a complaining problem more than a sex hormone problem.
Your adrenal problem could be a complaining problem more than a work problem.
Your weight issues could be a victimhood problem more than a food problem.
I don't say this to frustrate you.
Trust me, I find a lot of comfort in complaining. Undergoing a complaint clause feels like chopping off an appendage I need to survive.
I'm not sure what life will look like without it, but I know I need to in order to feel the way I want to feel and live the way I was created to live.
For the next seven days, I want you to refrain from complaining.
Don't complain about your boss.
Don't get worked up about traffic.
Don't complain about your kid's behavior (or how long track meets last).
Don't complain about the food you're eating.
Don't complain about your body.
Don't complain about the weather.
You can go ahead and feel upset about certain situations. I'm not asking you not to feel, but I'm asking you to deal with what you feel. To acknowledge the weather might not be great, but instead of complaining about it, find the good in it.
Complaining is a distraction that is disrupting your biology.
It's also repeating old patterns that prevent you from changing.
This week, use your brain, not your pattern.
