I'll be the first to admit regulating my nervous system has been hard for me.

Not because it is hard but because I've had to swallow my pride to realize most of my dysregulation has been self-inflicted. I wanted to blame my husband or our life's chaos for how I felt. Not myself.

Self-inflation is a survival tactic all on its own. While in balance, the ego creates your sense of self-worth, but when that worth gets threatened, it blows up like a balloon, making itself known in every room.

It's the unhealthy ego that no one likes. But it's the one that helps keep you alive by ensuring you find a way to regulate, no matter how temporary or even unhealthy.

Often, this means manipulating people or circumstances in life to do what you need them to do to regulate yourself. It's why people shove, mask, ignore, or run because all act as temporary relief to the dysregulation. Never mind how artificial they are.

This form of your ego also happens to be the real reason why people struggle to get healthy.

Your nervous system response determines the outcome of your body, shifting what your body does with what you provide.

Health is not just about what you eat.
